Allan G Thomson
BSc(Hons), MSc, PGCert(Medical Ultrasound), MRCPod, FFPM RCPS(Glasg)
I am a podiatrist with over 25 years’ experience spanning NHS, independent practice, and a decade teaching podiatrists in higher education. A pioneer in many areas of advanced practice, I was an early adopter of diagnostic ultrasound, injection therapies, and independent prescribing.
As a former extended scope podiatrist within an orthopaedic foot surgery department, I bring detailed knowledge of both surgical and non-surgical pathways. I regularly support patients who wish to clarify their diagnosis, understand their options, and explore what surgery may or may not realistically achieve.
Because I don’t perform surgical procedures myself, I offer impartial advice — with no pressure and no surgical bias. My role is to help patients make confident, informed decisions that align with their goals and circumstances
Aside from my core clinical activities I also offer assistance to podiatrists looking to develop their clinical skills. I have successfully mentored numerous podiatrists through postgraduate training in injection techniques and medical ultrasound, with a proven track record of success. My clinical expertise is matched by a commitment to education and innovation.
